Day 2    Galatians  God Told Me Something New?!?   Today, I was reminded in Galatians to fear the new man-centered revelations of “God.” I notice in today’s reading Paul’s extra emphasis on the Source of his revelation of Jesus. Paul was stating God gave Paul his revelation of Jesus, over against coming up with this truth by men’s thoughts. Paul was asserting his apostolic authority against the false teachers’ authority. God’s gospel over man’s false gospels. Notice these verses ... Galatians 1:1 Paul, an apostle ( not sent from men nor through the agency of man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead ),  ...  Galatians 1:11–12 For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Chris t. ... Galatians 1:15–17  But when God, who had set me apart even from my mother’s womb and call

Galatians   Day 1 Galatia was most likely the area Paul traveled on his first missionary journey.  It was most likely written after the Jerusalem Council (Acts 15).  In my first read through of Galatians this months a few things stood out.  First, the stern tone of the letter. Paul doesn’t mince words. He is direct, bold and confrontational. Chapters five and six point to the need for Spirit filled living over fleshly living.  A verse that stood out to me was Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” This will be the Scripture I seek to meditate on today.
