  1. Who is the “you” referring to (2:17)?  

Could it be the same you mentioned in the previous section? Either way, ‘if the shoe fits wear it’ is the implication.  It would need to be a jewish reader.

  1. What is the name he or she bears (2:17)?

  1. In verse 17 there are three privileges “you” attributes to himself, what are they (2:17)?

1. Bear the name Jew, 2. Rely upon the Law, and boast in God.

  1. In verse 18 there are two understandings “you” has, what are they (2:18)?

1. His will, 2. Approve the things that are essential

  1. Where does “you” receive these understandings (2:18)?

being instructed out of the Law.

It appears to point to the Gentile believers and their resulting obedience in all three sections!

It appears so based on the Spirit’s work in them (Romans 8:4)!

Judge the circumcised who don’t obey!

You is the Jewish unbeliever and transgressor of the Law!

A Jew is not one who is circumcised outward but not inwardly.

Not that which is outward in the flesh

is one inwardly!

is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit!

by the Spirit not by the Letter!

  1. Who is the true “Jews” praise not from (2:29e)? from (2:29f)?

They are praised from God not man.
