God Sent His Son!

Galatians 4:4–7 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.

This is one of the clear and concise presentations of the Gospel found in the book of Galatians.  There is definitely wonderful news found here.  Let’s look at a few observations from the text.
1.  God sent Jesus at the exact right time. Sovereignty
2.  God sent His Son. Deity
3.  God sent His Son who was born of a woman. Human
4.  His Son was born under the requirements of the Law. Fulfillment
5.  The twofold purpose of sending the Son … 1. so that He might redeem those under the Law… 2. That we might receive the adoption As sons.
6.  The promise for the adopted sons is … The Spirit of His Son sent from God into the believers heart.
7.  The results of the Spirit’s indwelling presence in the believer is the cry, “Abba Father!”
8.  The summary of the identity change is … no longer slaves to the Law, but sons of God…and even more heirs through God’s divine work!

These doctrinal truths are the basis of the new life in Christ reflected in walking in the Spirit developed in Galatians 5&6.  These are real Grace gifts from God for every believer in Jesus.
    • Jesus came for each of us.
    • Jesus was under the Law for us.
    • Jesus redeemed (bought our freedom) from the condemned status of under the Law.
    • Jesus made it possible for us to be adopted As God’s children.
    • The Spirit of God indwells every true believer.
    • The Spirit of God produces a cry of intimate acknowledgment of God as our new Father.
    • The new relationship is a dramatic transition from slave to heirs of God.

These are supernatural changes in every child of God.
These are real identity changes.
These are not just position changes but REAL objective changes.
The relationship between us and God is a real change.
The intimacy and communication with God is a real relationship.
OUR lives are different because of this change in relationship with God.

Father, these truths are humbling.  I definitely don’t deserve this grace and compassion.  I am worthy of judgment based on Your righteous standard.  BUT You God adopted this sinner and made me Your son.  Thank You Abba Father.  Spirit I know the joy I have in the Gospel is from You.  The hope I have in the Gospel is because of You.  The faith I have in Jesus is because of You.  Thank You!  Spirit, please work in Me.  Help me to walk in You and produce the Fruit that comes from You!  Father, I am yours by grace, please help me proclaim King Jesus till He returns to establish His Kingdom.
